Get back on track

Read: Psalm 13

Sometimes we feel far from God, we feel disconnected. There are seasons that we are so excited to go to church and feel motivated.

These are normal to the life of every Christian but we must know how to get back on track. Otherwise, the world will swallow us and Satan will win this battle.

But as a believer, these things bother us and we must know how to get back on track.

How to get back on track? Ask these things to ourselves:

Is there some sin in my life that I need to repent from?

One of the reasons why we feel far from God is because of these sins within us. We need to repent and ask for forgiveness. God is just and willing to forgive us (1 John 1:9) we just need to humble down ourselves.

As a result, we free ourselves and have peace because all guilts are gone.

Am I spending consistent, unhurried, and uninterrupted time with God?

Every Christian need to have a constant time to meditate day and night (Joshua 1:8) a quality time with God. We need to do something for God that will fuel our spiritual life and stay connected e.g. prayer, bible reading, devotional, etc. We need to know the activities we are having in our daily life to stay connected.

We need to stay connected to fulfill God’s purpose in our life as Christians.

Am I spending consistent time with God’s people and Christian community?

It is important to be with God’s people (Psalm 55:14, 1 Thessalonians 4:18, John 13:34, Galatians 6:2, Colossians 3:16, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Romans 15:14, Jame 5:16, ) and being with fellow Christians is far different from the other normal friends, it will help us to stay connected with God and share the love of God.

If we are not with fellow Christians, we may feel alone and defeated, the reason why we feel far from God.

Am I distracted? What are the things that are distracting me from God?

Read: Luke 10:40-42, Martha was distracted and troubled over many things. Like us Christians, we are always distracted and busy with many things but we forgot God and not able to enjoy our presence with God. Instead of spending time with God, we are busy with other things that keep us away from God.

We need to balance our life and make sure not to pull away from our focus on God.

Am I taking good care of myself?

We need also to take care of ourselves, need to have enough sleep and enough rest so that we don’t get easily tired, irritated, and have a bad mood so that we can offer quality worship with God.

We feel far from God doesn’t mean that God is away from us but it is us who is making ourselves far from God. As Christians, we have hope and God is just waiting for us. Ask these questions to ourselves and get back on track.
