📖 1 Peter 5:8–9 (KJV) “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

Always Be Ready

The Christian life is not a playground — it is a battlefield. Our enemy, Satan, never sleeps. He is always seeking to devour, deceive, and destroy. That is why Peter reminds us to be sober, be vigilant, and resist steadfast in the faith.

Preparedness is not just about expecting an attack, but being ready to respond rightly when it comes. Let’s look at three areas where God calls us to prepare:

⏰ We Need to Wake Up – “Be Sober”

To be sober means to be alert, awake, and spiritually aware. Sadly, many believers today are spiritually asleep.

📖 Romans 13:12–14 (KJV) “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light… But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”

Wake up from sin – Pride, selfishness, and hidden sins lull us into spiritual slumber. Wake up from worldliness – Satan uses the pleasures of this world to pull our hearts away from God. Wake up from comfort – Comfort in sin may feel good for a season, but it only leaves us weak and unprepared.

✝️ Are you awake to the spiritual reality around you, or asleep in the comfort of sin?

👀 We Need to Be Watchful – “Be Vigilant”

To be vigilant means to stay on guard, watching carefully for the enemy’s attacks. Satan is cunning — he attacks our minds, our emotions, and our relationships.

📖 Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV) “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

Watch your emotions – Satan loves to use discouragement, sensitivity, and offense to trap us.

📖 Proverbs 15:1 (KJV) “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.”

Watch your reactions – In moments of anger or pressure, it is easy to act like we don’t know Jesus.

📖 Ephesians 4:26 (KJV) “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.”

Watch your heart – An unforgiving heart gives Satan a foothold. Instead, forgive as Christ forgave you.

📖 Luke 17:3–4 (KJV) “If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.”

✝️ Are you watchful, or are you letting your heart become Satan’s playground?

🛡 We Need to Withstand – “Resist”

Preparedness means standing firm against Satan’s schemes. We cannot fight in our own strength, but in God’s power.

📖 James 4:6–7 (KJV) “God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Resist with humility – Pride makes us weak, but humility gives us strength in God. Resist with forgiveness – Vengeance belongs to the Lord, not us.

📖 Romans 12:19 (KJV) “Avenge not yourselves… for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

Resist with God’s armor – We cannot withstand without the Word of God and prayer.

📖 Ephesians 6:11 (KJV) “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

✝️ If God’s Word is not in your heart, then when trouble comes, it is not God’s truth that will come out — but bitterness and anger. Fill your heart daily with Scripture.

✝️ A Call to Believers

Believer, don’t wait until Satan strikes to prepare. Be sober. Be vigilant. Resist steadfast in the faith.

📖 Joshua 1:8 (KJV) “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night… for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

Wake up from sin, watch carefully for Satan’s attacks, and withstand in the power of God’s Word.

❤️ A Call to the Unsaved

Friend, you cannot withstand the devil if you don’t belong to Christ. Without salvation, you are already in his snare.

📖 John 3:3 (KJV) “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

📖 Romans 10:9 (KJV) “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Jesus Christ defeated Satan at the cross. Only in Him will you find true victory.

👉 Come to Christ today and be prepared at all times.
