A lot of people claiming that they are Christians but they don’t have the Holy Spirit of God in them. People come to church but it doesn’t suit their life.
Read: Galatians 5:16-25
Coming to church is not a guarantee that you are a Christian. Being Christian means you have the Holy Spirit dwelling with you. As what the bible says “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” – Galatians 5:26.
Christian must have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you and you don’t need to call the Holy Spirit to dwell in you every moment you need him. This simply means that the fruit of the Holy Spirit must be seen in us.
These are some questions to a Christian:
“Is the Holy Spirit of God dwelling in you?”, “Is the Holy Spirit working in your life?”, “Are you growing in the Holy Spirit?”, “Do you understand the working of the Holy Spirit?”, “Is the fruit of the Holy Spirit seen in you?”
If your answer is “YES” then you are truly Christian; a true believer of Christ; a genuine Christian. Your life has changed because you are now a newborn and you may grow thereby – 1 Peter 2:2.
And if the answer is “NO”, then you need to ask yourself and that maybe your salvation is a question, then maybe you are not a true Christian. So you need to repent and truly accept our Lord and Savior Jesus.
Why the working of the Holy Spirit is very important in the life of a Christian?
John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
John 14:16-17 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;” “Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”
The Holy Spirit is our comforter and abides with us. He is there with us to remind us not to stay away from the will of God.
We don’t need to look for him because he is already in us, if we truly believe and accept him and if we are truly Christian.
Ephesians 1:13 “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,”
The Holy Spirit gives us assurance of our relationship to God, he gives us power to become the sons of God.
Romans 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
Ephesians 4:30 “And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
Romans 8:15-16 “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”
So if you claim that you are a Christian (Son of God), walk in the Spirit of God and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”.
Repent and abide in the Spirit, don’t stay away from the will of God.
We are leaving in a world of pleasure and lust but we have the Holy Spirit of God who dwells in us that reminds to stay away from it and stay in the will of God. Galatians 5:17 “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”
Our pleasure must be in Christ and not in the pleasure of this world. We must not comply in the doings of this world but instead, we must fix our eyes in Jesus the author and finisher of our Faith. Doing such things (Galatian 5:19-21) shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.
So how to walk in Spirit?
“Abide in Christ”
- Continuously seeking for the truth, seek the word of God
- Continuously leaving in prayer
- Die to yourself and grow in Christ
- Fully trust God and lean not unto your own understanding
- Forget the things of the world and leave them behind
- Fix your eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our Faith
John 15:7 “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
Galatian 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,” “Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
If you are not walking in Spirit, there is no fruit in your life. Grow in Spirit and that Christ maybe seen in you.
“Leave in the Spirit and walk in the Spirit.”
God bless us all
