The Kingdom of Heaven is a Treasure
Matthew 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
Jesus told this parable to us for us to use it and to treasure it. We need to realize the value of His treasure. This is the greatest treasure that you need to value, your personal relationship with God.
How to treasure our relationship with God?
- You have to protect it.
In order to protect it, we need to be sanctified as Romans 12:2 says “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
We need to be bold as Colossians 2:8 says “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
Be careful to whom you listen to as Psalm 1:1 says “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2. Prioritize it
Leave everything behind because we have Christ, change of heart. We choose Christ over things that we normally do in the past, to glorify Christ.
How to prioritize?
Philippians 3:7-8 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Luke 12:4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
3. Posses it
The moment we receive the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit dwells in us that guides us and gives wisdom.
You already have it so don’t deny it and don’t refuse it but stay with it and show it.
Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
Show it and manifest it.
Colossians 1:26-27 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Glorify the Father, bear much fruit as John 15:8 says “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
Joy is very important in our relationship with God for us to treasure it.
Psalm 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
