Work heartily as for the Lord

Sometimes you feel like your efforts are useless or going unnoticed. Maybe you are working for a promotion at your job, perhaps you dread going to work because you feel unfulfilled.

Maybe you are a college student pursuing a degree in your chosen field of study. Whatever work you do, the scripture above encourages you to do it sincerely and earnestly as if Jesus is your direct superior and not man.

Colossians 3:23-24 KJV
[23] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; [24] Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

When you work as if you are working for the Lord, no matter the type of work you do, we will begin to feel a sense of fulfillment. You will put your best foot forward and strive for excellence because Jesus is now your focal point and reason for working.

When you change your perspective about who you are working for, your mentality changes about the work you do. I know this from personal experience.

There have been times I’ve worked on something and felt overworked, unappreciated, overlooked, and unnoticed by man. It was not until my co-worker reminded me that my labor is done as a service unto the Lord and not man that my attitude about work begin to change.

Now, I am asking you to change the way you view and do your work. As a believer, work as though you are serving the Lord with your time, gifts and abilities. You have a sure promise that God will reward you because you are serving Him and not man.
