Genuine ChristianLife of a Genuine Christian

Life of the a Genuine Christian

Colossians 2:6-7 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

How can a Christian be dead in sin and still keep on sinning?

Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The life of a Christian does not stop the moment he/she received the Lord Jesus Christ. While living on earth the power of sin still exist but the life of a genuine Christians are continually in the process of sanctification.

Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

We Christians are still sinning (unintentional) but we live our life in repentance everyday and we do not have a license to sin.

Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

We need to prove that we are “Christian” and we should live unto righteousness.

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

John 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

We need to continue in our Faith and live with it everyday.

Colossians 1:21-23 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Here are some reminders to us Christians and for us to prove to ourselves if are really a “Genuine Christians”:

ARE WE LIVING A GODLY LIFE?

If we truly accepted the Lord Jesus Christ, we have to live a Sanctified life. We are no longer seeking for a self satisfaction through a sinful life as we already surrendered our life to Him.

Our life is new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We have a new interest.

Colossians 3:1-2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

The life of a genuine Christian does not stop on the moment they “accepted” the Lord but continuously “walking” with Him.

ARE WE LIVING A GUIDED LIFE?

We need to totally surrender our life to Him, submit unto God. The Holy Spirit cannot work in our life if we don’t let Him work in us.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Be under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 2:12-14 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord, I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia. Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

Glorify God in your Body.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

A genuine Christian allows unhindered working of the Holy Spirit in his/her life, the Holy Spirit dwells in them.

John 15:4-8 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Remember, without Christ, we are nothing.

ARE WE LIVING A GROWING LIFE?

A change can be seen. How long you’ve been calling yourself as “Christian”? Is there a change from your old doings and interest?

Don’t let your life becomes a question if you are truly saved and if you truly accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in your life. Be rooted and built up in Him.

Colossians 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

The moment we stop growing is the moment that we start dying.

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

The problem of an assuming Christian is they are still holding up on to something in their life and they don’t give 100% of their life to Jesus because their interests and satisfactions are still worldly.

Conclusion:
A genuine Christian is not satisfied with the will of the world but continuously living a Godly life, guided by the Holy Spirit and continuously growing in Christ. If you are surrounded by unbelievers friends, remember this, there’s never right in a wrong company.

What can be seen in your life? Is it a genuine Christian or an assuming Christian?

Thanks God for His reminders so that we can be rooted in Him, we will constantly grow and be found genuine Christians.

God bless.
