đź“– 1 Timothy 1:6 (KJV)

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”

Has Your Fire Grown Cold?

Every Christian starts the journey of faith with excitement. Remember when your heart was full of joy? When the Word of God thrilled your soul? When you prayed with passion and served with eagerness?

But somewhere along the way, the fire starts to dim. Life gets busy. Trials knock us down. Sin distracts us. Ministry feels like a burden instead of a blessing. The flame that once burned brightly starts to flicker.

The Apostle Paul told Timothy to “stir up the gift of God”. That means: Rekindle the fire. Fan the flame. Don’t let it die out.

Let’s look at three biblical reasons why we must rekindle the fire within us:

1. 🔧 For Us to Be Actively Used by God

đź“– 1 Timothy 1:6

“Stir up the gift of God, which is in thee…”

đź“– 1 Corinthians 15:58

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…”

When the fire of God is burning in our hearts, we are ready and eager to be used for His glory. But when the fire grows cold, we lose our zeal and become spiritually idle.

God doesn’t use lukewarm vessels. He uses those who are burning with passion to serve, willing to labor for the gospel, and faithful to the calling He has given.

✝️ Has your fire for ministry faded? Ask God to rekindle it today.

2. 🛡 For Us to Fight Against Spiritual Dullness

đź“– Ephesians 6:11

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

đź“– Galatians 5:16

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

đź“– Romans 12:2

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

When the fire is gone, spiritual dullness sets in. We become comfortable, compromised, and careless. But when we walk in the Spirit and stay armored in the Word, the fire keeps us alert, holy, and battle-ready.

We are in a spiritual war. Cold hearts can’t fight strong battles.

❓ Who do you fight for — the flesh, the world, or Christ?

3. đź’– For Us to Reignite Our Passion to Serve

📖 Romans 12:11–12

“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.”

God deserves more than half-hearted service. He deserves our all. The early believers served with urgency and fire because they were consumed with the mission of Christ.

“Fervent in spirit” means on fire in your soul. Is your passion for the Lord alive? Are you still eager to give, to go, to serve, to pray?

🔥 Do you have that burning desire to serve God?

✝️ A Reminder: Remember How You Started

Think back. Remember when you first got saved? When you couldn’t stop reading your Bible or telling others about Jesus?

That was no accident. That was the fire of God in you. But fire must be fed to stay alive.

Don’t settle for cold Christianity. Don’t grow used to spiritual dullness. Fan the flame. Stir up the gift. Rekindle the fire.

🕯 “Set my soul afire, Lord, for Thy holy Word…”

❤️ A Call to the Unsaved

Friend, you cannot rekindle a fire that was never lit. If you’ve never trusted in Jesus Christ, there is no spiritual fire yet — because there is no spiritual life.

You must be born again.

đź“– John 3:3

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

đź“– Romans 10:9

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again. Turn to Him in repentance and faith today — and let Him light the fire of salvation in your soul.
